Why We Run on September 30th

every child matters

We run to remember the children who never came home. We run to honor the survivors who carry the weight of that truth and still rise each day to fight for healing, justice, and dignity.

The Orange Shirt Day Run was created as a response to this truth. September 30 is now recognized as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—a day to reflect, to remember, and to act. Through movement, we reclaim our space. Through every step, we say their names. Through this run, we commit to never forget and to always move forward together, in a good way.
